British
indie rock band Bloc Party, composing of Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Gordon
Moakes, and Matt Tong, is set to perform for the first time here in Manila this
22 of March 2013.
First
heard them as a soundtrack of Gossip Girl, their indie vibe coupled with synths,
and vocal manipulations was an unorthodox, nonconforming to the rhythm of the
usual pop or rock music of that time. Bloc Party’s style of music is a
reminiscent of those of The Smiths, Suede, Radiohead, The Cure, Blur, and yes,
one of my favorite artists, Bjork. Their songs are in a way experimental
combining modern language with those of symbolism that draws intellectual
emotions altogether.
