The Brand New Bradshaw

The HBO hit series Sex and the City was first broadcasted in 1998 when I was barely nine years old and just in my fourth grade.  Too naive to understand what was it all about and too young for my parents to allow me watch it on the television. But I remembered sneaking every once in a while to catch a glimpse on what Carrie Bradshaw was wearing. And yes, I dreamt of wearing Carrie’s iconic ballerina outfit!

It was only during my college days that I got the chance to watch the series and note that it wasn’t the whole series at all. Pathetic, I know. So when I heard the news from my sister about the prequel to the acclaimed series and a brand new Bradshaw will be on her way, I immediately jumped out of my bed and write about it.

The prequel to the Sex and the City is entitled The Carrie Diaries. The series will open with Carrie being a senior high school in 1980's focusing on her coming of age and the beginning of her success in New York. Playing teen Carrie Bradshaw is AnnaSophia Robb. She is famous for her roles in movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Race to Witch Mountain, Bridge to Terabithia, Jumper, and Winn-Dixie

The Gathering

There was a legend that a certain god created the so-called universe of art to tell stories and to communicate to those who live on the planet of spectators by making them look up to the sky once and awhile and let their senses see and feel what the god desires them to see or feel.

This universe is consisting of different extraordinary worlds of beautiful creatures.  Large and small. Dim and bright.  As time passed, the god noticed that most of his spectators only switch the focus of their eyes on two worlds, the world of film and the world of fashion.  So one day, the god decided to ask his spectators in a form of voice. “Why is it that you always look up to the sky to catch a glimpse of the worlds of film and fashion? They are too far. “ The spectators answered in the tiniest voice imaginable. “For even if they are far, their stars shine the brightest. Their brightness is more than enough for us to be hypnotized and make us wonder who and what they are.”

The god sighed. Then he started telling a story.

“The worlds of film and fashion can be found on a same cosmic belt.  The creatures from the world of film are strange. They are either full of emotions or no emotion at all. They seldom talk but they always think. The species from the world of fashion are either black and white or colorful. For them, nothing is in between. They find comfort on the fastness of time. The inhabitants of both worlds work together in harmony. They can make ugly things beautiful and the beautiful things turn ugly. When they do this, they are either flown to the sky to become a bright star or be doomed not to ever become one. “

The story didn’t satisfy the hunger of the spectators. So the god decided for the sake of his people to make an annual gathering for the spectators to see the creatures of the two worlds and make them think on whom among those creatures for them can be destined to become a star.
