Eiga Sai 2012



In celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship month, the Japan Foundation, Manila and in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, UP Film Institute, Film Development Council of the Philippines, ClickTheCity.com, and NET 25 TV, will present 10 contemporary Japanese films in 4 different locations these coming months of July and August at this year’s Eiga Sai.



Eiga Sai which literally means “film festival” is an annual event that showcased Japanese movies for public viewing. It is a weeklong ‘Japanese’ occasion where big fans of Japan culture, film, and language come together amidst long lines of free ticketing. 

The 2012 festivity will open with an invitational screening of Villain (Akunin) on July 5 at Shang Cineplex Cinema 2. A film based on the novel by Shuichi Yoshida entitled “Akunin”, the movie is said to be one of the most acclaimed films from Japan in 2010 earning 15 nominations from the Japan Academy of Awards and a Best Actress win for its female lead actress Eri Fukatsu at the Montreal World Film Festival 2010 and Japan Academy Prize 2011.


But folks, don’t fret for the complete line-up of featured films can be watch for free by everyone in a 35mm format with subtitles starting July 6.
